Distinguished Sri Lankan model and pageant trainer Chulpadmendra has passed away under unusual circumstances at the age of 46. The definitive cause of her demise has not yet been officially disclosed to the media. A prominent and sometimes controversial figure within the island's fashion and modeling industry for over two decades, she made significant contributions through her 'Chulpadmendra Catwalk Studio', mentoring numerous aspiring models. She secured the 'Media Award' at the 2006 Miss Tourism Model of the World pageant in Tanzania and ventured into acting, appearing in films including "Sweet Angel", "Gindari 2", and "Swara", as well as several television teledramas. The judicial verdict regarding the 2021 case filed against Caroline Jurie and Chulpadmendra, following the controversial on-stage uncrowning of Pushpika de Silva at the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World pageant, is scheduled to be delivered on October 17. Most recently, she served as the National Director and Chief Training Consultant for the Universal Women Sri Lanka 2026 beauty pageant held on the night of August 31 at the Waters Edge hotel in Battaramulla.
